laker excitement and trailblazer malaize
tonight we get to go to a laker's game. i'm pretty excited. i think this is the first time dave and i have left the kids with a sitter for the night since about six weeks after ellen was born when we went to that ben harper concert. and by leave the kids with a sitter i mean for an extended period of time...there have been several times when mom or kevin and luann or someone has stayed with the kids for a couple of hours while we went to eat or something. and not that they told us to come back quickly, but we always have. this time we're going into portland so there's no real way to only be gone for a couple of hours.
the only bummer, as i told mom, is that they're playing the trailblazers, our local team. but dave's company is one of the big team sponsors so we get some sort of dinner and to sit what sound like pretty good seats.
if you know about dave and i and professional sports, we generally cheer for the bad teams. we liked the browns. we went fairly often to see the clippers when we lived in la. teams that really just are no good at all. the real bummer about the trailblazers is that they're not good, but they're not bad enough to cheer for. the fun bit with a horrible teams is that anything good they do is completely cheerworthy and so its just so much more exciting.
don't get me wrong, we jumped at the chance to go to this game tonight, we're just gonna have to pretend we're normal people and cheer for good teams. well actually, we're going to be in trailblazer land - i guess we'll just have to pretend the blazers really really suck, instead of just sorta suck.
:)

Yeah, I went to a Blazers-Bucks game one time, and it was scary how many Blazers fans there are. I don't think I've ever been at an athletic event that was as lopsided, fan-wise. Good luck tonight! (Go Lakers)
