it's summer (almost)
my plants are growing up. we've got cherries and berries galore. we saw baby alpaca's this weekend. and now i've got some baby spiders on the way.
i'm not sure what to do with them. they're right by the front door, and i'm not really thrilled with that location. i'd really like to hose off the whole front porch but i don't want to just kill this poor spider mom.

Wow Sarah. I find your caring of the "poor spider mom" to be almost more than I can take in without laughing. Will being a mom change me in some deep way. I will get out the can of raid to kill the poor ants and think. "NO, there are mothers and children in this line leading to my kitchen. I can not kill the poor innocent pests". Maybe my home will become a commune for insects and animals alike where we can all live in mutal harmony. Hee hee. You are so cute.
i can only care about the poor spider mom because she is not inside my house, walking across my floors. as soon as any creature crosses that line, i'm afraid i no longer care for them.
It's really okay, just hose away
Even though we often find it necessary in a practical world to destroy the tiny lives that so easily find themselves at odds with our comfort or well-being, I don't think your concerns are silly or inappropriate. I'm glad to hear that having resisted Margaret's predicted fate this long, you still can "spare a sigh" for the loss of other forms of life.
Is that a quote from somewhere?
Hose'em, Sarah. There's a million more (Or there will be if you let the eggs hatch right by your front door).
I've sure got plenty in/at my house.)
Some live, some die, and many, many, many catch bugs for me. :)
I hope you didn't think I took your caring of the spider too lightly. Actually I made fun but I also feel really bad when I kill bugs. Unfortunately I think Anne is right. You don't want them in your house so sometimes you have to make tough decisions.
