chronicles of a (late) lent observer: day 1

okay, so i'm about a week late i just found out. when i was looking at the calendar i forgot to read the little line above 'lent begins' that said 'eastern orthodox'. oh well. i got a free few days. and really, since i'm "postmodern", it's all relative to me and where i'm at, what i'm going through. :) so i decided i will give up sugar, but in a really sane way. i won't have desert type things or soda or candy-ish things. but i will drink juice, or eat yogurt or normal things like that. while trying to decide where to draw my boundary lines, i thought about splenda for a minute. maybe if i make the cake with splenda that would be fine...? but i decided that really was missing the point. (or blasphemy according to dave) and i also decided to take it one day at a time, since 40 (well a few less for me) days of not having deliciously sugary things is really a daunting idea. so today, no sugar for me. sounds kinda like AA. i feel skinnier already.

Yea! Good luck! I think you're right about the cake-- it's easier to avoid it all than try to live on the edge. Sounds like you'll be doing the exact same fast as me-- I can be your sponser!

Sounds like when I gave up coffee/Starbucks, but then drank decaf...
Good for you--hey, one day without sugar is probaly better than I can do. You're awesome. And limiting normal sugars is actually not very good for you--you should eat fruits & things. Splenda is an excellent substitute, when the time comes, and safe during pregnancy.

Sounds tough, but that is awesome that you are willing to give it up.
