when i get rich - baby edition

dave and i frequently talk about "when we get rich" as though that will be a definite time in our future. granted, it is completely normal to have no money at this stage of life and to have substantially more when you're more established and older. but i digress. we talk about what we will do when we get rich, who we will share it with, what we will be sure to buy - all the normal stuff. this is my list of what i will give to people having babies when i get rich. the normal stuff: 1. an adorable outfit 2. an ultra soft blanket - for some reason i always find myself giving blankets. i think i love them 3. thick cloth diapers - these make the best burp cloths out there. the less normal stuff: 3. bum paste -this is really called butt paste, but we shy away from that word around my house. this stuff is awesome. way better than desitin. 4. satin hands kit by mary kay - my hands normally get dry in the winter, but since changing diapers has become a full time job i've been putting lotion on every couple of hours. this stuff is awesome, and i've only had to use it about every other day before i feel like i need another fix. 5. a baby pouch like the ones made by kangaroo korner - these are a bit pricey, and you need to make sure you get one that fits you well, but they are soooo worth it. soooo worth it. a snuggli has a place also, but when they're just very little kids seem to fit better in a pouch and it's more natural. plus once you get good you can nurse them in a pouch and they can be in it until they're two or three instead of 9 or 10 months. 6. signing time videos - these teach kiddos sign language. we've taught ellen since she was a baby, but we checked one of these out at the library this week and she picked up another 4 or 5 signs in two watchings (she already knew all the rest). really good videos and help kids to talk before they have speech. really really good. so if you're having a baby soon know that if i was rich this is what i would get for you.

Thanks--I appreciate the thoughts. And the suggestions of what to get/ask for.

Mary Kay also makes a Satin Lips product, which I was just amazed with when I used it. Really great for people who get chapped lips a lot, like me.
