well, isaiah may be lactose intolerant. we're still trying to figure that one out. but that means either i cut all dairy out of my diet or he goes on special soy formula. i figure i'd just cut out all dairy - as i'm thinking about it today i'm realizing that i eat a ton of dairy products. i didn't really know what to eat today (this is still just an experiment to see if he really is lactose intolerant or not) everything i eat has some sort of cheese or milk or yogurt (or ice cream) or something it seems. maybe this would be a good diet :) (since ice cream is one of the bigger parts of my dairy diet)

Oooh. Now that sounds like a challange. I don't know what I'd do without cheese and ice cream.
But, there's probably some delicious soy ice cream out there...mmmm. :)

Why do you think he is lactose intolerant? Has he been spitting up more? He wasn't before and didn't seem to be cramping up or anything

hes got a really nasty rash on his bum that won't quit... apparently thats a sign. she seemed a bit perplexed that he didn't cry while or after eating, but i figure we might as well try this for a while

that's new though and it seems if he were lactose intolerant he would have gotten the rash a whole lot sooner.
Seems good to try the lactose stuff, but do you think he could be allergic to the diapers you are using?

actually he's had the rash for quite a while - but i've decided i think the dr. is wrong. it makes no sense to me. i was talking to a friend at church today who has three kids...her first had a dairy allergy (i guess that's the same thing) and she said she had a rash all over and that she had "tummy trouble". and her third had a really bad rash that took forever to get rid of and he just had really sensitive skin. apparently a lot of babies don't enjoy the chemicals that are in wipes. so i think that might be what's going on. she suggested just using water and she actually got out a blow dryer (on the cool setting) to make sure her son's skin was dry before putting on the a&d stuff. i don't think it's diapers cause we've used three different kinds already.

Dr. Joanne here, haha I'm voting for diaper rash. The lactorse thing would have showed up sooner, and you sorta have to give them formula or milk. Breat milk wouldn't do it. You could have eaten spicy foods that he could get a rash from also. Hang in there kiddo.

Great Grandma C says I vote for the diaper rash. I can't imagine a baby being generally allergic to his mommy's breast milk (unless you eat spicy stuff or some such) The wipes might be it-plain water on baby skin is the best cleaner. "Baby soap, baby lotion, baby oil," etc. etc. sometimes are made to sell baby products. People with allergies in their families probably are allergic to something. Love you.
