isaiah went to the dr today - this little chow hound has already gained a pound. actually a pound and two ounces. and i think somebody has measured wrong because otherwise haes also grown an inch and a half. i'm thinking about switcjing pediatricians once again...this dr is telling me that i should give him water sometimes in the night instead of feeding him since hes obviously gaining weight very well. and she said he needs to be taking vitamins since babies that nurse don't get the right amount of some vitamin. that sounds rather odd to me. and after i waited 30 minutes they told me i forgot some paperwork that no one had ever mentioned i should bring. so i went home to get it, came back, got in right away, but by the time the dr actually saw him another hour had gone by. this place is about 1/4 mile from home and i was gone for about two hours! that seems a bit much to me.

Crazy doctors and their schedules!

I can imagine that what the doctor said about breastfeeding and vitamins might make sense, depending on the diet of the mom. They probably see a lot of women that don't eat enough vegetables or vitamins, and so aren't passing them on to the baby. Or so I'd imagine.

Doctors indeed!
I'm glad Isaiah's gaining weight well.

Are you getting any more regular sleep?

yeah, the diet thing could make sense, but she didn't ask. i tried to get some clarification on why he needed this and she said something about since we're not monkeys anymore hanging out in the sun all day we don't get enough vitamin d (?) - so it doesn't sound like a diet specific prescription. and no one ever said anything when ellen was nursing. so it seems to not be a universal.

i'm still not getting the sleep i want, but overall it's not too bad. dave's working half days this week so i've been able to take longer naps and it's been nice to slowly ease into being repsonsible for two munchkins.

Hey Sarah,
Joanne here, vitamins are good for him. Espically the ones with floride for strong teeth. The water at night is another thing indeed.

i suppose vitamins couldn't hurt the poor kid, huh? it just seems odd that nursing babies are lacking something. i dunno - i am definitely considering switching doctors.

fun to hear everyone's opinions :)
