typepad

i'm strongly considering moving my blog over to typepad. check out all these different templates. there are so many more options and you have so much more control over how your blog and posts look. (and that's what i'm all about - options and control). the down side is 1)it's not free. and 2)you can't really take your old blog with you. i suppose this would be a great motivator to make the hardcopy version of this blog that i keep saying i want to make. and i suppose it wouldn't go away. it would just sit still and stop growing. that sounds so sad.

I'm such a cheapskate that I would stay with the free one no matter what. But I wish you luck with the decision!

Actually you can import your old posts - I can walk you through it if you like. I LOVE Typepad. Blogger is really good, too, though. I like Typepad better, and I wouldn't really stop using it unless I really really really was working to conserve money, but - and I feel a little disloyal saying this - it's not *that* much better than Blogger. Maybe it's kind of like the difference between Macs and PC's. I love my Mac deeply and passionately, and I am willing to pay more money for it, but I could totally use a PC if the situation arose.

I thought seriously about going to typepad - the only thing that stopped me was a change in plans to self-hosting, and then I stopped pursuing it. If you can afford the money, I would recommend the change - it's not too expensive, and it's never a bad idea to spend a little on something you use a lot - you do get what you pay for. I still might switch myself at some point, but I just put all of that effort into redesigning my coerablog.

I'm quite curious how much it costs.

you can navigate around that page i linked to and it will take you to the various prices, but i think the options are either 5, 9 or 13 bucks a month - depending on what you want to do.

For some reason, the linked page is more like an image than a site that I can really look at in more detail, but I think Jill's site looks pretty neat. It might be worth the extra money.
